The publishing of this open-world game has brought about a strategic alliance between Midway Games Inc, eminent developer and publisher of interactive entertainment business, and Ubisoft. While Ubisoft is given the charge of handling sales, distribution and marketing of Wheelman in North and South America, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, France, Ireland, Austria and UK, Midway retains the share of directing the growth and expansion of the game and possesses the future franchising decisions and is responsible for selling and marketing in the balance European states. Ubisoft’s senior VP for marketing and sales, Tony Key, has expressed his delight in the alliance with Midway to make a world-wide release of Wheelman and to make Wheelman’s progressive driving technology to all the game lovers.
The game is planned for shipping to North America on 24 March’2009. Its planned street date is 27 March’2009 for release in Europe for the Wheelman Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and for Windows PC versions. Pre-launch presentation is also planned for PS3 and Xbox.
Midway CEO and president, Matt Booty, commented that Ubisoft has an established proficiency in marketing and launching IP’s. This co-publishing contract relationship with Ubisoft is a rewarding move to validate the potential in Wheelman. Ubisoft Entertainment will be a great help to make Wheelman accessible to a broader spectrum of consumers and in levelling out the involved risk factor in the product.
The Wheelman development is underway on a large scale, for fine-tuning and polishing the game to impart a core Hollywood smash hit experience.
