O2 Unveils Joggler for Home keeps track of your Schedule

O2, the leading UK mobile phone provider, has now branched out its operations and unveiled a new and unique device called Joggler for use at home. According to the company, the O2 Joggler can help families keep track of each other’s schedules and activities. It’s like a digital calendar and organiser which can be used to stay in touch with the family members, know about their plans and co-ordinate with them easily in such a fast paced life.

O2 will launch the device in April 2009. It’s a 7 inch touch screen device that looks like a digital photo frame. Designed to sit on a table or desk, the Joggler’s primary function is a built-in calendar that not only shows monthly schedules of all the family members but also sends reminders for important events to the mobile phones via text messages. Apart from this the Joggler can also be used to display high resolution photos, play music and watching video content. Think of it as a combination between the Archos Internet Media Tablet, and a PDA like the HTC S730 Wings, without the phoning capabilities. It can also be connected to Internet and link to news, traffic and weather information.

You cannot connect Joggler to O2’s mobile phone network but its can be connected to a home network router either via WiFi or through Ethernet. Family members can store appointments, reminders and key in other important information using the web-based O2 calendar. O2 announced that it will also add support for e-mail in near future so that the customers can receive alerts via their inbox also.

The company’s future Internet Media Tablet devices will fall under the category of converged devices and will possess the capabilities of a mobile phone as well of a portable computer. Essentially we can expect something like the Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet, but with phone capabilities and an Android OS. Archos has promised a larger 5 inches of display this time with stunning resolution for the Android-based phone tablet. Due to the incorporation of Android operating system the new IMTs will be compatible with Adobe Flash.
