Samsung launches Via Technologies Nano Based Laptop in the UK

Samsung Electronics has recently launched its new NC20 laptop in UK. The laptop is based on Via Technologies’ Nano processor. You can get it through British Telecom. The Samsung NC20 also packs a 1.3GHz Nano processor along with 1GB of high speed RAM. It is meant for those who are hunting for a portable computing device that sits between Intel’s Atom powered Notebooks and some other high-tech laptops.

The NC20 has got a12 inches of widescreen display that offers good aspect ratio and enough viewable area to enjoy movies and images on the go. According to the company the Samsung NC20 will run on Windows XP Home Edition operating system. It will also feature a 120GB hard disk drive. Therefore, if you are a moderate user then you will never fall short of storage space. As per the BT’s portal, the initial models of NC20 will be available in a white case. For those who like black have to wait till 9th March 2009. The Via Nano based processor has got an 800MHz of front side bus (FSB) and uses Via VX800 chipset as the core platform. The Via VX800 has got integrated hardware video decoders for high-definition video playback.

The Via Nano based NC20 is great but it is not meant for powerful computing. Although the Samsung NC20 is a great amalgamation of style, performance and productivity the Intel’s Atom based devices can offer you more speed.

CES 2009 Overview: A Look at the Highlights

CES or the Consumer Electronics Show is one of the most popular trade shows held in Las Vegas. This year, the show was held between January 8th and 11th. Prominent companies feature all their latest products here. Reporters from all over cover this show which features the latest technological advancements in every electronic product segment. Thousands of products set for release are previewed for the benefit of the public.

The CES 2009 was no exception. A wide range of products were featured by a host of companies from all over the world. One significant aspect this year was the fall in the attendance strength as compared to previous years. However, the convention center in Las Vegas and the other venues such as suites, hotels, etc were filled with the latest unique and cool products.

One of the prominent and interesting booths was Intel’s, which featured a whole lot of demos such as MIDs, netbooks based on Atom, Centrino 2 notebooks, WiMax, Core i7 gaming, etc. The eyecatcher here was certainly the Atom Processor powered Classmate PC netbook from Intel, which can easily rival established models, like the Asus Eee PC 904 HD, with its many impressive performance features. With its rotating screen, the Intel Classmate PC even doubles up as a tablet PC. Deep Viewer is one of their new applications which were also demonstrated here.

NVidia displayed various items in their booth which had other partners too. Items on display here include the 3D glasses, GeForce graphics cards and the Ion SFF platform. An interesting upcoming product featured here is the BFG Phobos system. Phobos systems are Intel processors powered and priced at $3000m $5000 and $ 8000 based on the service level and configuration options.

Apart from these, other prominent products displayed here include LG’s OLED TVs and LED TVS. Wireless charging was showcased by companies like Fulton Innovation. One of the most popular advanced features which created a flutter is the Internet connectivity for televisions. Yahoo was the leader here giving out details of their plans to tie up with companies like Vizio, Toshiba, LG, Sony, Samsung, etc.
