Ultramixer: Extra Versatile DJ Software

By Audrey • Jan 28th, 2009 • Category: DJ Equipment

Ultramixer is versatile software that is exclusively developed for those who love to perform track mixing in a professional manner. It has got a standard dual deck display interface and supports most popular file formats including WMA, MP3, CDs, WAV and OGG. Unlike other DJ software, Ultramixer is full of mind blowing functions.

It has got a 31 band equalizer, real time effects, hardware controller support and a sampler. If you have a hi-fi digital sound card that supports real time mixing then the Ultramixer can give you unprecedented sound effects. It has also got variety of transitioning and fading options. You can also enjoy the functions of the turntables via built-in dual digital sound players. Although obviously not as good sound as the music produced from a real DJ turntable, like the Technics SL-1200 MKII, the Ultramixer makes an excellent substitute for anyone who is a little strapped for cash. Vinyls can also be accessed at the click of a button from the file archive with Ultramixer. However, this will not give you the same performance as the real turntables do but the availability of multiple extra effects make up for that smoothly.

Ultramixer’s additional features include sync tools, pitch adjustment, precisely metered tabs, scroll bar for pitch adjustment, intuitive beats and seamless loop. You can use it on Windows XP/Vista, Mac and Linux. The UI is extremely good and all the options are well organised. You can customise it in different ways and use MIDI controllers with it. It also sports an automated mode that can be used for unattended playback.

Slot Music from SanDisk is Replacing CDs

By Jason • Jan 20th, 2009 • Category: Industry News

Slot Music was introduced by SanDisk last year. It was a revolution in the acoustic world. It was something that was never introduced earlier. Sandisk’s Slot Music offered memory cards as the primary devices for users to store all their music files. There was no need to maintain CDs, DVDs or other optical storage medium anymore.

Within few months this technology has gained so much importance that it is likely to replace CDs and other optical storage completely. More and more music vendors are now turning their heads towards the development of slot music cards. There are two main benefits of using slot music. The music cards, like the Sandisk microSD card 2  GB, are ultra-thin and save lots of space. Besides this, these cards are the most portable medium to carry data and audio/video files. One can grab high capacity cards offering gigabytes of storage. You can use them with any compatible music player, mobile phone, PMP, DAP, portable MP3 players and similar devices.

However, earlier it was questionable whether this technology will beat the CD storage or not, but now there is no doubt regarding to that. People today prefer all those devices that can offer portability, functionality and mobility and the slot music cards do provide this all in a far better way than the legacy storage mediums.
