Apple iPod Classic: Same classic Feel, giant Storage Space

By Luke • Mar 17th, 2009 • Category: MP3 Players

Another spectacular showpiece from Apple is none other than the iPod classic. The latest iPod classic comes in a metal case that is refined and has a graphical interface that strikes a huge resemblance to the iPod Nano. The gadget has a storage capacity just like the usual iPod courtesy of its hard drive and hefty battery. The gadget also signals a dead end for iPods that are driven by hard disk drives. This iPod also moves the entire media player lineup to the Flash memory storage. It is the sixth generation of iPods and does not have the plastic face as its predecessors. The anodized aluminium metal face envelopes the iPod and the gadget also contains an elegant glass screen.

Courtesy the feature mentioned above, it becomes extremely difficult for any source to scratch the screen of the Apple MP3 player. Another feature that acts as a shield is the stainless steel back. The back shows fingerprints that can be used for tracing and can also be rubbed off smoothly without any hassles. The Apple iPod classic 80GB has a metal case that is thinner than the 30GB 5.5 iPod. The entire lineup of the iPod is used through the Flash RAM instead of a hard drive. So invest your money in this classic gizmo and get thorough enjoyment.

Apple iPod Shuffle: The 3rd Generation can now talk

By Audrey • Mar 16th, 2009 • Category: MP3 Players

The Apple corporation has just unveiled its third generation iPod Shuffle which not only shuffles the playlists at the touch of a button but also clams to possess speaking powers. Yes, you read it right. The new iPod Shuffle is powered via VoiceOver technology that invokes speaking capability into this miniature music player. With the VoiceOver feature the new Shuffle can speak out song titles, artists and playlist names. It can also give you some status information. For example it can tell you about the battery life in 14 different languages including English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

The new Shuffle is small, sleek and offers intuitive controls on its earphone cords. Essentially, aside from the VoiceOver feature, the new Shuffle is mostly the same as the earlier Apple iPod Shuffle 1GB. For instance, just like the original, you can easily control the playback with the press of a button with the 3rd Gen Shuffle. According to Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPod and iPhone Product Marketing, “Imagine your music player talking to you, telling you your song titles, artists and playlist names. The amazingly small new iPod shuffle takes a revolutionary approach to how you listen to your music by talking to you, also making it the first iPod shuffle with playlists.”

As of now the talking Shuffle is available in two colours, silver and Black. Most of the functions, file compatibility and technical specifications are same as the previous iPod Shuffle devices. So you won’t face any difficulties while transferring the music to the new one.

External X-Fi Device By Creative: Enhances Music Playback beyond CD Quality

By Jason • Mar 3rd, 2009 • Category: MP3 Players

Creative has just launched Creative Xmod, a device that enhances the playback quality for MP3, WMA, iTunes or AAC songs to beyond the original CD quality. It’s based on the Creative’s X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity audio platform which is known for improving sound quality. The Creative Xmod is a candy bar sized device that connects between speakers or headphones. You can also connect it to a PC, Mac, iPod, Creative ZEN or any other MP3 player to improve listening experience. It basically converts the acoustics to the X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity standard.

The Creative Xmod improves all the frequencies, i.e. low, mids and highs to deliver richer sound with extended bass. The best thing about Creative Xmod is that you don’t need to re-purchase the music in higher format. The device is potent enough to remove all the sound impurities at first hand. X-Fi Xtreme fidelity is based on two basic functions, X-Fi Crystalizer and X-Fi CMSS-3D. The X-Fi Crystalizer enhances MP3 music a lot by identifying those parts of the track that got damaged during compression. On the other hand the X-Fi CMSS-3D generates a virtual surround sound effect through speakers or headphones like the Creative Labs Aurvana Live! headband model. The X-Fi CMSS-3D enhances the audio in a way that the listener feels surrounded by a multi-channel Hi-Fi home theatre system.

Sim Wong Hoo, chairman and CEO of Creative said, “There are more than 100 million people who listen to MP3, WMA or AAC music on their PCs, Macs or iPod or ZEN players, but the quality of these compressed music are highly compromised. The Creative Xmod enables them to listen to their music with audio that sounds even better than CDs. Now with Creative Xmod, all your music is instantly upconverted to Xtreme Fidelity standard in realtime through a simple and compact device.”

Siemens unveils Life Hearing Aids for people to enjoy Music and receiving Calls

By Luke • Feb 28th, 2009 • Category: MP3 Players, Mobile Phones

The Siemens company has recently unveiled its new hearing aids named Life. It’s exclusively designed for those who suffer from mild or moderate hear loss and finds it difficult to enjoy MP3s and receive calls on a mobile device. The Life hearing aid has to be connected to a Tek device to use. Tek is small pocket friendly device that can be carried along anywhere easily.

Once connected with Tek device the Life enables partially deaf users listen to music and attend their calls without any hassles. The device has got special technology that enhances the sound waves and eliminates any unwanted noise that obstructs clear listening. The Life can be used with various MP3 players and mobile phones, like the BenQ-Siemens E72, as long as they feature Bluetooth function. People who want to use Life hearing aids with Tek device has to undergo a special fitting session to be conducted by a professional audiologist. This is necessary to get the device configured for use with whatever devices the user wants. The Life also features an anti-breeze function that eliminates any noise created by wind. Today more and more people are relishing music on the go and are used to listen to their favourite tracks at high volumes for long time. This gradually affects their listening capabilities and by the time they get old they start feeling deaf up to some extent.

“What we put our ears through 20, 30 or 40 years ago can have a real impact on our hearing health today and we’re seeing damage manifesting itself as hearing loss in a much younger demographic than ever before,” commented Wendy Davies, head of audiology at Siemens Hearing Instruments.
