By Audrey • Mar 16th, 2009 • Category: Mobile Phones

HTC Touch Pro2 is the upgraded version of the HTC Touch Pro, just like the Touch Diamond2 after the Touch Diamond. The HTC Touch Pro 2 takes corporate communication seriously and aims at providing unprecedented conferencing experience. It is optimized to improve human interaction by giving as much importance to calls as the e-mails and text messages get.

The biggest barrier in a call conference is the disruption in the voice. If you are not able to hear or are not audible to the intended audience then the whole purpose of conducting a conference ruins. Therefore, it’s necessary that your smartphone must receive and send crystal clear voice signals over the network. The HTC Touch Pro 2 boasts its Straight Talk technology that puts crystal-clear sound quality and voice reception at the core of its design. This makes the Touch Pro 2 a handheld conferencing device with an exceptional noise-cancelling microphone and loudspeaker. The phone’s interface is also designed in a way that makes it easy to initiate and manage a call conference. Just tap your fingers on its 3.6 inches (480 x 800) TouchFLO 3D display and it will respond to your gestures in no time.

Like its predecessor, the Touch Pro 2 also runs on both 2G and 3G networks and hosts variety of connectivity options and other functions like Java, Accelerometer, Handwriting recognition, Bluetooth, USB, radio and much more. Its processing core is supercharged via Qualcomm MSM7200A 528 MHz CPU and the operating system is Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.

Are Smartphones smart enough to help improve our kids’ numerical Abilities?

By Luke • Mar 2nd, 2009 • Category: Mobile Phones

Smartphones are really smart enough to help us in our day to day activities. In fact, these diminutive gadgets are so potent that most of us rely on them for enhancing productivity, maintain a good social network and entertaining ourselves irrespective of place and time. But have you ever wondered about the miraculous benefits these devices can offer kids? Well, this is something that the co-founder and chairman of Qualcomm, Irwin Jacobs has pointed out recently.

According to him, smartphones play a vital role in improving a student’s numerical abilities, provided the device has got the necessary features executed in the appropriate manner. Last week Jacobs attended the Wireless Foundation’s Mobile Learning Conference 2009 held at Washington, DC and explained the benefits of introducing smartphones in schools. Lat year Qualcomm initiated and sponsored a unique project called Project K-Nect to find out whether the smartphones can actually contribute in learning process. Each subject in the project was provided with an Windows Mobile HTC  smartphone running on EV-DO 0 and A networks. The project involved 89 at-risk 9th and 10th grade students from four different schools of North Carolina.

The results of Project K-Nect were really good. This experiment was very successful as the passing rate for one school was 100 percent. This was because the students were in touch with their classmates and discussed their problems whenever they got stuck, even during odd hours. The smartphones also encouraged them to increase the number of hours they used to devote studying Algebra.

Popular Smartphone Models boost Mobile Game Downloads

By Luke • Mar 2nd, 2009 • Category: Mobile Phones

Popular smartphones, like the Apple iPhone and RIM’s BlackBerry, play an important role in driving the people for mobile game downloads, says the findings of comScore. The total number of Americans downloading mobile games increased by 17 percent in November, last year. Out of them 8.5 million people were those wireless subscribers who used to download at least one game per month.

This is because of the intuitive controls, as well as large and clear display with excellent graphic capabilities, that advanced smartphones like the iPhone, Windows Mobile phone and BlackBerry models offer. The Apple iPhone 3G 16GB has already been recognised as a potential mobile gaming device that is as efficient as Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP). According to the research conducted by comScore the number of smartphone users downloading mobile games during November 2007 to November 2008 quadrupled and the game downloads by basic handset users declined by 14 percent because such mobile phones do not feature awesome graphics, high fps and speedy processing. The Apple iPhone is the most preferred smartphone for mobile gaming and accounts for 14 percent of total game downloads.

Mark Donovan, a senior analyst at comScore commented, “The rapid growth in smartphone adoption in the United States has provided a boost for mobile gaming, as 34 percent of those downloading a game in November did so using a smartphone. Last year, not one smartphone appeared in the top 10 devices used for mobile downloads. This year, six out of 10 are smartphones, excluding devices with smartphone-like functionality, such as the Instinct and Voyager, which also make appearances.”
