Once again Sony Ericsson made its mark in the smartphone domain by announcing the new Idou, the smartphone with a 12 mega pixel autofocus camera. It’s a big boss of the much more known smartphone, Xperia and brings more power and functionality on your palm. The Idou is expected to create the same big hype as the Sony-Ericsson Xperia X1. It’s not only the first smartphone to feature a 12 megapixel camera but also the first one to ever run on the brand new open source Symbian user interface, that is still in the development process by Symbian Foundation.

The Sony-Ericsson Idou is still a code name of the device and is still undergoing development. It is expected to hit the smartphone market in the second half of 2009. However the company has revealed the specifications for sure. The Idou will sport a 3.5-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels. The display will be very fluid and rich in colours. It is expected to work on both 2G (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) and 3G (HSDPA 900 / 2100) network. No need to mention that just like any other smartphone the Idou is perfect for those who want to enjoy hi-end graphics, stunning sound and mind blowing videos on the move. Coming to its main attraction, i.e. the Idou’s 12MP built-in camera, which far surpasses competitors like the Samsung Pixon, will allow you to shoot photos at a jaw dropping resolution of 4000 x 3000 pixels. Apart from the main camera a secondary VGA video call camera is also provided. Apart from these the Idou will offer all the standard functions such as Geo-tagging, face and smile detection, GPS, Bluetooth, SMS, MMS, Email, IM, WAP, RSS reader, Stereo FM with RDS, Java and much more.
